About
Born on October 8th 1909, Grimsby, ENGLAND, Stan Nelson was the Son of a Fisherman.
Stan remembers his father being a strong & tough man, whose nickname was 'Tiger Nelson'. Stan was only 5 years old at the time of World War 1, but remembers being bundled up by his mum on numerous occasions and hiding under the stairs as the Germans bombed his town.
He remembered Zepplins overhead and witnessing 'dog fights' between war planes in the sky above from his backyard.
At the age of 14, he was an apprentice Barber for a local establishment. In 1931, after some time and serious soul searching he decided to join the Army, and became a Gunner of the Royal Horse Artillery.
12 years later World War 2 broke out and Stan found himself involved in the massive retreat at Dunkirk. He served in France before the war ended and later settled with his wife Ivy and had three children June, Peter & Christopher.
It was later, that Stan co-founded the Grimsby Astrological Society with his friend Colin Partis. Pondering the universe and mans origins was always discussed and debated.
